A few years back we spent a week at Anthony’s Key Resort, in Roatan, Honduras. Danny was big into scuba diving and I wanted to try something different, mainly the over the water bungalows, and it was pretty cheap trip, so we went for it. All meals, diving/snorkeling and accommodations are included in the trip price.

The rooms were spacious and clean, the air conditioner (highly recommended) worked well. The only main issue about the resort was the amount of no see-ums. Take their advice and use plenty of bug spray!

The diving and snorkeling were terrific. They offer several dives a day and a couple of night dives as well. All the dive staff were friendly and the boats were well maintained. The coral here was phenomenal.

Danny did a shark dive and a dolphin dive. There is a dolphin program and our dolphin encounters were the highlights of our week. They also have a weekly dolphin show and a camp for kids.

Food was better than we expected, with a couple of daily options for 3 meals a day. You must take a boat over from the Key to the restaurant, which I found quite fun. Wait staff and bar staff were all super friendly and remembered our preferences quite quickly. They had a fun fiesta night that had crab races, limbo, fire dancers a dance contest, local music and dancing, fire artists and then open dancing.

We also went for a picnic lunch at Maya Key and toured the animal sanctuary there. This beautiful Key also offers two secluded beaches, excellent snorkeling from a scenic pier and I think they have since added a new pool.

I am glad we experienced it, but don’t think we would return, as I am not a diver and their is not much else to do. But if you are into diving, it packs a pretty good bang for the buck.
