We have been fortunate enough to travel to Hawaii 13 times over the last 21 years. Eight of those trips included a visit to Kauai and only once did we not stay at the Grand Hyatt. We cheated one time and stayed up North at the St. Regis Princeville Resort.
The first time we stayed was for our honeymoon. The hotel is so impressive and the lobby is stunning, I think I might have cried the first time we entered. We love the open entry leading to the ocean and love talking to the birds.

On our first trip, we were just young newlyweds so we went with a mountain view. We were awoken every morning with the sounds of roosters and smell of bacon fom the buffet. Evertime we have stayed we go with the package that includes the plentiful and delicious breakfast buffet, which includes an omlet station, (and unlimited bacon) and overlooks a koi pond with swans.

They must take good care of their waitstaff as we remember our servers from year’s past. Everyone you encounter at the resort is friendly and willing to go out of their way to make sure you are taken care of.
We’ve had a couple of issues over the years with room location, but as soon as we bring it up with the front desk, they do what ever they can to make us happy. When we went for Danny’s 50th they surprised us with a suite. An amazing set up with a beatiful bathroom and amazing lanai with full ocean view.

The pool areas are to die for as is all the landscaping. We’ve been lucky to have many, many awesome views that include both the waterfall and pools as well as the ocean and the start of the Maha’ulepu Heritage Trail.

While the beach is usually too rough for swimming there is a nice beach walk and if you are lucky you just might get to see a Hawaiian Monk Seal sunbathing. You’ll see many locals boogie boarding, but I have never been in over my ankles at this beach.

They have a special spot where you can leave your lei when you’re leaving the resort. The picture below is from our 10th anniversary in 2007.

When can we go back?
