I’ve always been a fan of manatees and whenever I visit Epcot I love watching the slow-moving “cows of the sea” chow down on romaine lettuce as they recuperate from what ever accident (mostly boat strikes) has brought them there to recover.
Last February, Danny and I went to visit his cousin Phil and his wife Julie who reside in Miami. When they asked what we wanted to see while we were visiting, I said…I want to see dolphins, manatees, an eagle and spend a night in Key West.
So right off of the plane Phil brought us to Shuckers Bar & Grill for lunch. We got some cold drinks and a couple of appetizers and watched the dolphins as they played in the bay! I didn’t get pictures of the dolphins but I did get a picture of the drinks!

The next day we took a drive to see some manatees. My pictures didn’t come out that well, but it was wonderful to see them swimming in the canal, where they were safe from boats and had plenty to eat.

We never did see an eagle (more reason to go back) but we did see quite a few iguanas at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park and an alligator or two at Everglades Holiday Park. We did spend one whirlwind day/night in Key West at the Avalon Bed & Breakfast, but that’s a story for another post.

Thank you goes out to Phil and Julie for their awesome hospitality! We’ll be back!
