Today is National Mead Day!

Today is National Mead Day!  One of the worlds oldest fermented beverages, mead is also called honey wine, ambrosia or nectar.  It is made by combining honey, water and yeast.

A bottle of mead we brought back from Ireland…long empty!

Danny and I traveled with Pop (Danny’s dad) to Ireland back in 2000. We went to the Bunratty Castle for the Medieval Banquet.  This County Clare castle was built in 1425 by the Earl of Thomond.  Following his tradition of hospitality, the world renowned Bunratty Medieval Banquet is held twice nightly throughout the year.  There is entertainment, a four course meal, and of course good wine and plenty of mead. Pop might have had a bit too much.
