I love me a Margarita, and if I am out somewhere and I am going to order a drink, 9 out of 10 times I will order a Margarita. Seeing that this week we are highlighting Disney World and Universal, how fitting it is that one of the best Margaritas I have ever had was at Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville in City Walk, Orlando.
A few years ago we stayed a few nights at the Loews Portofino Hotel. We had just finished a day at Islands of Adventure and were heading to the boats to return to the resort. It was a warm day and the thought of a refreshing drink sounded perfect. There were several open chairs at the Lone Palm Airport Bar, so we picked two in the shade and then chatted a few with a friendly bartender, and asked what he recommended. His choice was the watermelon margarita.
What a choice! It was so delicious and refreshing. It’s made with, silver tequila, triple sec, watermelon puree and house made agave Margarita mix. I think we ordered some snack food but don’t even remember what we ate, probably the soft pretzels as we always order those, but I do remember we ordered a second Margarita.
So if you find yourself looking for a delicious, refreshing, alcoholic, break from the action, and find yourself walking by the one and only, Jimmy Buffet’s seaplane, the Hemisphere Dancer, take a seat and take my recommendation. Order the watermelon margarita. Better suggestion? Order two.
