5 Things to do outside of the Disney parks

The Disney parks are amazing, but can be overwhelming.  Crowds, lines, heat, rain…everyone deserves to take a day off.  But what to do on your off day?  Here are 5 FUN ways to keep the Disney spirit going while not using a day on your park ticket.

#1 See a show.  Hoop Dee Doo Review is an all you can eat dinner show with family friendly comedy, song and dance.  Located in the Fort Wilderness Resort and campground, audience participation is encouraged and laughs are plenty.  Another option is the Disney’s Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show located at the Polynesian which hosts a family style luau.  Enjoy Polynesian music and traditional food while watching the hula and fire-knife performances.

#2 Rent a boat.  Disney has several marinas that you can rent boats from.  Mini speed boats can be rented by children at least 12 years of age and be at least 5 feet tall.  Cruise around Bay Lake and check out the resorts and parks from a different perspective.

#3 Rent a bigger boat. If you have a larger party, pontoon boats can be rented for up to 10 people.  Drivers must be 18 and have a valid drivers licence.  Make the time even more memorable and sign up for a specialty cruise.  Watch Happily Ever After on Bay Lake or IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth on the World Showcase Lagoon right from your personally piloted boat while enjoying snacks and beverages.

#4 Play a game of mini golf. Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf are two totally different golf courses.  Located over by the Swan and Dolphin resorts, one resembles a traditional golf course with holes over 100 feet long, the other is more whimsical with silly obstacles and funny water gags.

#5 Have a pool day.  All the resorts have pools and they are all special in their own way.  From the scary clown slide at the Luna Park Pool at the Boardwalk Inn to the zero entry at Uzima Springs Pool at Animal Kingdom Lodge, we’ve enjoyed many days relaxing pool side.  As Beach Club Villa DVC members, we are lucky to be able to spend time chilling on Stormalong Bay.
