Yak and Yeti – A Disney Dining Review

We recently returned from a trip to Disney World and had an unexpected dining experience at Yak and Yeti.  For many years, our go-to was Tusker House, but after it turned into a buffet we never went back.  So for several trips we just ate at Pizzafari or snacked around the park. (Anyone for  a frozen banana?)

A few years ago we tried Shrimp Lo Mein and Kung Pau Beef take-out from Yak and Yeti and was impresed with both the taste and the portion size.  Last year we rode out  a thunderstorm at the bar and were impressed with both the cocktails and the service from the bar staff.

Conditioned Air? Yes, Please!

This year, we didnt plan any sit down meals for our Animal Kingdom day.  Hunger struck just about the time we were walking past Yak and Yeti so we checked to see what the wait time would be without a reservation.  We were a party of 5 so we were pleasantly surprised when they said 30-40 minutes.

Of course we all had a cocktail.  We had the South Seas Traveler – Myer’s Original Dark Rum and Captain Morgan Spiced Rum, Monin Lychee Syrup, and citrus juices and the rest of our group got Yak Attacks – Mango Daiquiri, Don Q Cristal Rum and Wildberry Flavors. Refreshing and slightly potent.

We started with the Pork Pot Stickers, which became a running theme for this trip. There was plenty to go around, and the soy lime dipping sauce was a nice accompaniment.

Danny and I shared the Lobster Garlic Noodles – Lobster, shrimp, scallops, baby spinach, red peppers, shiitake mushrooms, tossed in a zesty garlic stir-fry sauce.  A little pricy but the serving was huge and plenty for two.  This was absolutely delicious!  Everything was perfectly cooked and tasted fresh and amazing.

Lots of seafood included.

The rest of our party shared the Teriyaki Chicken and Shrimp and Chicken Lo Mein and loved every bite.  They finished by sharing the pineapple upside-down cake.

For dessert we shared the Fried Wontons – Skewers of fresh pineapple and cream cheese wontons, vanilla ice cream, honey-vanilla drizzle.  I’d go back again just for this – what a way to end a great meal.

Decadent end to a delicious meal.

Our service was excellent and we all enjoyed everything we tried, bonus is that they give a 10% DVC discount!  We had many suprisingly great meals this trip and this one was voted number one by all all of us.  I would highly suggest booking a dining reservation here on your next trip.  Or just be like us and give a walk-up a try!
